Pushkar is blessed city for Hindus, located 14 kilometers to the northwest of Ajmer, district of Rajasthan. It is one of the oldest cities of India that nestled on the shore of holy Pushkar Lake. The legend associates God, Brahma with this holy Lake origination. The word ‘Pushkar’ means lotus flower, which is known as a seat of Brahma-‘A creator of this world’ in Hindu religion.
The hallowed water of Pushkar lake is measured as like the water of the Mansarovar lake located in the Kailash mountain. The origin of Pushkar is not truly sure, but it is found in ‘Abhigyan Sakuntalam’ a famous Sanskrit play of great Indian poet, Kalidas.
Pushkar is referred to as ‘Tirtha-Raj’ the king of all pilgrimage sites or ‘Tirtha-Guru’ the Guru of pilgrimage sites. It is categorized as four kinds of Hindu’s pilgrimage sites like Deva-Tirtha, Asura-Thirtha, Arsha-Tirtha and Mnushya-Tirtha. Pushkar has a number of temples and around 52 Ghats. Many of the temples were destroyed and some of the re-built. These re-built temples are famous among all over the globe.
There are a few temples of Lord Brahma, which are existing in the world. Temples dedicated to Lord Brahma are also placed, Prambanan temple in Indonesia, Besakih temple in Bali, Bithoor temple in Uttar Pradesh, India and Asotra temple in Barmer district of Rajasthan.

Pushkar is famous for its annual festival that's held every year in the month of October-November. According to the Indian calendar, this festival embarks into Shukal Paksh Ekadasi in the month of Kartik. This festival is also called a Pushkar Camel Fair, celebrated till the five days long
This five-day festival organized especially for the trading of cattle like camels, sheep, horses, cows, goats and so on. Camels are decorated with beautiful clothes and ornaments for public exhibits that walking over sparkling sand. Camel Fair is a wonderful experience of a lifetime.
